How I Use ChatGPT to Develop Expert-Level Prompts That Get Me Expert-Level Results
You will never need to learn prompt engineering after reading this
I use ChatGPT to develop prompts that I feed back to ChatGPT to get expert-level results from ChatGPT.
I agree with you, that statement is one hell of a tongue-twister.
The point of it, however, is to drive home one simple truth we don’t seem to notice: chatbots can teach us everything we need to know about chatbots, including how to use chatbots.
Take image generation for example. When I want to generate an AI image for a blog post, I don’t rack my head trying to come up with suitable prompts to make the AI generate a suitable image for my post.
Here’s what I do instead:
- Finish and copy my post
- Ask the chatbot to come up with an image-generation prompt using my blog post
- Paste the generated prompt into a text-to-image AI
My prompt will look something like this: “Come up with a good prompt that I can feed to an AI to generate an image suitable for this post [inserts the entire text of the post].”
Using this technique, here is the image-generation prompt that ChatGPT came up with for this post of mine:
“A surreal illustration depicting the concept of data privacy and targeted advertising. Center the image around a teenage girl holding a smartphone, surrounded by swirling data streams made of shopping carts, baby items like cribs and bottles, and algorithmic patterns glowing in neon colors. In the background, a retail store’s logo subtly blends into the digital waves, with a concerned father in the foreground holding a flyer of baby products, looking perplexed. The overall tone should feel eerie and futuristic, with soft lighting highlighting the characters and a matrix-like overlay symbolizing data mining and pattern recognition.”
And here is the image Fal AI generated from the prompt:
