Threads Is Now Treading Downwards | Proof It Was Never Worth It
According to data from Sensor Tower, Meta’s Twitter-like platform Thread is now recording a 20% decline in daily active users, and the number of time users spent on the app also declined by 50%. For an app that broke the internet, it’s becoming obvious that it’ll still be an uphill task for it to take over Twitter or carve out a space in the social media routine of users.
Despite being dubbed the Twitter-killer, and many analyses of it done against this backdrop, I still don’t agree that Threads stood any chance against Twitter. Threads will have to prove that it’s record-breaking launch and adoption won’t be another case of boom and burst and our buying into hype over utility, or that of our constant victimhood to the fear of missing out.
It All Felt Off For Me
I don’t have an Instagram account, so it wasn’t easy for me to rush to sign up for Threads.
Yes, getting in on IG is easy, but I wanted Threads to be worth it before I would sign up to IG just for its sake. Moreover, I agree with Jack Dorsey that we don’t need another Twitter clone.
We obviously don’t even need another social media.
The hype was overwhelming. So at first it felt like I’ve been left behind as Threads did 100 million users…
