North Korea is an interesting nation once you’re not within its borders.

If you get, whether as a tourist or a citizen, you’ll be met with ridiculous, strange, and dangerous practices and decrees used by the government to control the populace, and sometimes estranged them from the rest of the world.

Since 1948, North Korea has remained under the rulership of the Kim Dynasty, with three dictators so far, and each having a personality that is just as interesting and dangerous as the others.

Here are three, only-in-north-korea things that will completely knock you off.

North Korea Uses Faeces Instead of Fertilizers

Before, North Korea’s agricultural manure were imported from China, but after North Korea closed its borders at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it lost that trade relationship with China.

The country has zero amount of chemical manure, so they asked citizens to use their poop to produce manure, declaring the challenge of securing enough manure as the first "struggle" of 2022.
