Selling is a skill upon which every other skill depends. If you don't learn to sell, either your business or yourself, you will be the only one who will ever get to know how good you are.
Remove selling and the world will be a chaotic place. Products won’t sell, relationships won’t work, education will be flawed, and international relations will be impossible; because, though we may want to convey our intentions, we will suck at doing it appropriately. It is the basics of life, appropriateness ensures that we don’t use 'no' in the place of 'yes’.
As humans, we are like a two-way biological machine which, in our natural way of interacting with the environment, is always sending and receiving signals. Through the signals we receive we evaluate people, and through the ones we send we get evaluated. If we could all send wrong signals in the place of the original, good ones we intend to, society, and civilization as we’ve come to know them, will be dystopian.
Selling is what it means to be alive; it is what it means to be human. It is compatible with our nature as social beings; without it, we can’t make deep connections, we can’t collaborate and share ideas; without selling, humanity will be backward and messy. Relationships work because the parties involved knows to choose their words and acts…
